ASD seems to be everywhere these days. Well guess what? It is and has been for many years, it was just called other things in the past.
As you know, I work with families with children who have been diagnosed with ASD in its many forms and degrees. That is why it is called a spectrum. Kids who have ASD know it, as the article says. They just don't know how to describe it, or how to explain it to others.
I knew that Bob Dylan had Asperger's the first time I saw him do an interview. It was obvious to me immediately. I know the characteristics.
I also know many successful people who have Asperger's - scientists, engineers, professors.... and the list goes on.
This is not a life sentence that prevents those with it from having a normal life, but it can be an ongoing struggle. Those with Asperger's need to learn how to deal with it and how it will affect relationships with others.
